Make a Free Reservation and Skip the TSA Line at These Airports

SmarterTravel

Want to skip long airport security lines, but don’t want to pay the fee for a TSA PreCheck membership? At some airports, you can now make an online reservation and virtually secure your spot in line—for free.

Select airports have partnered with Reserve, a virtual queuing service offered by CLEAR. To utilize the service, simply visit Reserve’s website and enter your flight details and number of passengers in your group. You can then select a time slot that you want to go through security, and input your information. Reserve will email you a confirmation and QR code.

Upon arrival at the airport, head to the Reserve Lane (usually found near the CLEAR kiosks by the TSA lines) during your designated time and scan your QR code to skip the line.

Your reservation will be valid for a 20 minute window in case you’re running late.

Which Airports Offer Reservations?

You can make a free reservation at the following airports:

  • Calgary (YYC)
  • Los Angeles (LAX)
  • Miami (MIA)
  • New York (JFK)
  • Newark (EWR)
  • Orlando (MCO)
  • Phoenix (PHX)
  • Seattle (SEA)
  • Berlin (BER)

Will I Get Special Screening?

Once you’ve skipped the line, you’ll be treated as a regular passenger. You will not receive TSA PreCheck benefits such as the ability to leave your shoes or light jackets on.

If you have a PreCheck membership, you’ll want to avoid using Reserve, as you’ll be routed into the standard security line rather than the PreCheck line.
